The 2011 Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Knowledge update for the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Programme is now available. This provides an update to the 2010 review.  The update reviews the work of the Programme and provides information on antenatal screening for sickle cell and thalassaemia and newborn screening for sickle cell. It includes sections on policy, new methods and technologies, information for parents,  by-product findings and carrier identification in newborn screening; evidence of outcomes in newborn screening, evidence supporting the programme's approach to antenatal screening, and  organisation of antenatal screening services.
