New Test for dads leaflet
The new "Test for dads" leaflet has been written exclusively for men who's baby's mother has been identified as a carrier of an unusual haemoglobin. This leaflet will assist men in their understanding about what being a carrier of an unusual haemoglobin means, if they are a carrier what this could mean for their unborn baby and an explanation about the test which is being offered.

Celebrities congratulate the Screening Programme on reaching 10 years of age
You can listen to messages from JB, Lenny Henry and patients such as Bryce Campbell (an aspiring junior golfer) who can be seen congratulating the Screening Programme on achieving its 10th anniversary. Hear their views on why it is important to be tested as early in pregnancy as possibly, ideally by 10 weeks; why men should understand their role in the inheritance of sickle cell or thalassaemia; the importance of raising awareness of both these conditions.
More messages can be heard from Diane Abbott, Dr Terrance Stephenson, President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Dr Shuja Shafi, from the Muslim Council amongst others.

As part of the Screening Programme's 10th anniversary celebrations "From the margins to the mainstream: 10 years of the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Programme" was written to give a comprehensive account of the events which led to the Programme's inception and also highlights the objectives, challenges and milestones which the Screening Programme has faced over the last 10 years.
From the margins to the mainstream: 10 years of the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Programme was recently launched at Guys Hospital, where the Screening Programme held an exhibition showcasing items from patients and colleagues in the sickle cell and thalassaemia field.

Regional update meetings
The dates for the regional update meetings for 2011 and 2012 are now available. Health professionals from acute trusts and primary care are encouraged to take advantage of this CPD accredited training day.
