Antenatal

Data is collected from 152 antenatal laboratories in England and analyzed at the programme centre. Data from 2007/08 showed that in high prevalence areas 305 686 women were screened in the year – in low prevalence areas the number was 216 896.

Newborn

Data is collected annually from the 13 newborn laboratories in England and analyzed at the programme centre. In 2007/08 666 060 samples were screened and 359 babies identified with screen positive results for significant conditions.

Prenatal diagnosis

The programme centre collects data from the 3 haemoglobinopathy genetics labs in England. There were 320 PNDs done from April 2007 to March 2008. More information on PND is available from this site.
